One, how are you holding up, and two, I'm planning to take the Admiral's advice and start doing some fast talking about all the Inmates I know well enough for it. We should get together and work out a strategy.
[Yunlan pulls the door open; he's dressed down in a long-sleeved T-shirt and one of his many pairs of ripped jeans, without his jacket or shoulder holster, hair looking less meticulously maintained than usual. It's been a long week already.]
Hey, Azul. Come on in. Do you like green or oolong better?
[He's got an electric kettle on the countertop, emitting a trickle of steam. The room is comfortable and open-plan, with an upper-middle-class bachelor vibe: glass liquor cabinet, punching bag, big brown leather couch, sports equipment on the walls and weird knick-knacks cluttering the endtables and shelves. The kitchen is to the right, a desk stacked with neatly organized books and papers and a traditional brush calligraphy set to the left by the big window, and an elderly gray tabby hisses as she spots the stranger and vanishes through one of the interior doors in a blur.]
[Azul is fitted in his fedora and suit combo, the closest he could mimic of his favored outfit in College. He notes the slightly mussed hair as he walks in.]
Oolong, thank you.
[There's a blink as he's hissed at, head swiveling just to catch the blur darting away.]
Ah... if'd I known, I would have brought a compensatory gift.
[Though he doesn't make that comment with quite as much pep as usual. He'll wait until he's directed to sit anywhere.]
Don't mind Ursula, she's cranky with visitors. [Yunlan waves a hand in the direction of the door the cat vanished through.] To tell you the truth, she's still cranky with me.
Also you don't need to give me a compensatory gift for tea! This is absolute bare minimum being a decent host, here, you know. Shen Wei'd be ashamed if I didn't offer.
[He pours hot water into one of the mugs and drops an oolong tea bag in; Shen Wei's already ashamed of Yunlan's relentlessly "late shift in the police station break room" level tea-making skills, but those are harder to amend than habits like offering guests tea.]
[He gives a slight chuckle at the words that follow, gesturing with a hand.] I meant for her. I'd be rather cranky with unexpected visitors barging into my place, too.
[As for how he's holding up, he sighs and gives a wave of his hand.]
Sea witch? Good question! The cat came with her name from an former inmate who was rehoming all of his when he graduated. I'm not sure where she got it originally.
I'll give her some dried fish when she deigns to emerge again.
As for me... well, I'm holding up about as expected too. Given everything.
[Yunlan quirks a wry smile at Azul as he finishes making a second cup of tea. He hands Azul his and settles on the corner of the coffee table with his own.]
I'm still hoping the Admiral pulls off a last-minute skin of the teeth escape, but it sure does look like they're keeping a hold of us, doesn't it?

Hm. Alright.
I'm available in an hour.

Anyway. First off, how have you been holding up?

About as expected, given everything.
And yourself?
